To be fair the thread title doesnt accurately reflect whats written and quoted in the article. The article states that one of the many and varied reasons people leave churches is because of doctrinal changes. They quote a catholic priest as opposed to actually stating it themselves. Still the intent of the article is hypocrtical.

I heard the news about an hour ago. He was only 54 y.o. and was living with "The Apprentice"'s infamous Omarosa Manigualt.

didn't know he was with her. Last I saw, he was at an NBA game with a bad little mama. That Apprentice girl looks like Louis Gosset Jr in drag.

It sucks by the way. I have a Galaxy Tab and downloaded this app. It was slower than Hogan's goat. There was a pdf NWT with a hyperliked Bible book chapter index that wasnt bad. I believe Atlantic posted it some time ago. Been meaning to track it down.

Beyond the humility involved with expressing such an admittance, would be the courage needed while being in expectation of the organization losing a 1/3 of it's pew overnight and plenty more not long after that. Me personally I would respect the hell out of them if they man'd up and admitted that they were lead along just like the rest of us before waking up. Even if they came out and admitted they feared for the collapse of the organization as a reason for hesitating to coming out, I'd still have a significant measure of respect for them. I'd never want to be in the shoes of a religious leader whom people follow blindly right before dropping a bombshell like what this thread is imagining.

so there was this great gang of us, from south london, manchester and wolverhampton, went to socialise with a group in fishguard in wales.. amongst the conversations one of the single sisters stated, "i could never marry anybody who used to be in the world".. i guess a lifetime of knocking on doors had given her the impression there couldnt possibly be a convert in her midst, never mind later alone with her in her mgb.. so whats with this, did you think we had rat scabies or were possesed by demons or something?.

I've been amongst JWs my whole life, baptized for the past 20 years and still quite active and have NEVER heard that sort of sentiment. The brothers I've seen come into Da Troof got more attention from the sisters than the born-ins from what I've seen throughout the years. It's like the young converted male is exotic or something. As far as a condescending attitude, something that I've noticed more as of late is how converts tend to have an almost disappointed view towards the lack of motivation born-ins display when it comes to certain features of the religion, particulary field service. The born-in often views the zeal of a convert with a sort of experienced pessimism, like, "he's new and and will be just as average as I am in another year or so."

my mother just told me today that her cousin's wife has extended an invite for me to attend their 35th wedding anniversary.

i find that i'm not in the mood to be surrounding by a group of jws especially since said cousin and his wife are both jws and i did accept the wife as a friend on facebook where i've been none too discreet about my distaste for the society.

Just wondering, since you say it's a three hour drive, do you think the invite was made because she probably thought about the traveling distance and just knew you won't show up? Then it would be something if you knocked on her door

She probably in her own smug twisted JW way of thinking, that she demonstrated love by inviting you despite it being a 3 hour drive. 3 hour drive for a wedding aniversary. I would have been like "ninja please." Those in the know recognize what "ninja" replaced.

this article also briefly questions whether it is really safe in the modern world to engage in this form of proselytizing.. it's certainly interesting to hear an outsider's perspective on the repetitive nature of the preaching work, even though jws would argue that this is an isolated case.. .

Knocking on doors in today’s world is not something that is recommended as it can be dangerous. So why do they keep coming to the same homes for the past decade? According to the belief they go door to door to spread the gospel but does it make sense to knock on the same door? Will that really bring any results? Except potential trespassing charges. If they are asked to leave and keep on coming it is after all harassment. Jehovah Witness considers knocking on doors a good way to reach people but seriously it does not say to reach the same people over and over every week.

Typical worldly people thinking and speaking with common sense.

i still have a lot to learn, but i have come a long way since i first started cooking for mr cedars.. i think the first recipe on this thread should by the one that oodad has posted on other thread.... .
